Looking to take home one of Chile’s best bottles of wine? Where to start? Not at the supermarket where you can find something decent, but they generally don’t stock the high end export labels. For that you’ll have to make a trip to one of the specialized wine stores. Mundo de Vino, Wain or La CAV, which also has a monthly buyers club.

Each one will publish from time to time a ranking of the best. La CAV (which stands for Club de Amantes de Vino or wine lovers club and also sounds something like cava or cellar) just released their Mesa de Cata 2012 ranking. To comply the ranking they brough together three experts Ricardo Grellet, sommelier; Ana Maria Barahona, executive editor of La CAV and Sergio Correa, an enologist or wine maker, and ranked the wines on a scale of 1 to 100.
