This photo is from the recent, and very tasty, trip to Lima in September. We stopped by Peru’s premier culinary event Mistura to dive deep (and eat are way out) into Peruvian food and the food scene in Lima. Came across this grill master on the first day wipping up some fresh Anticuchos de Corazon, which basically is a marinated beef heart, in small chuncks, placed on a wooden stick (soak it in water first!) cooked on a flat grill or bbq. In Chile we also have anticuchos, they are a favorite in the street markets, but usually cooked here on a simple bbq, have the time that is rolling around in an old shopping cart and many times are served with some onion mixed in and of course, a small chunck of bread.
What do you think about eating heart? It’s actually a muscle, making it more like a fine steak then one of the strange innards you can find cooked into action.
