San Cristobal & Bellavista - Hike and Chilean Lunch

Enjoy Santiago with a day of outdoor activity, Chilean food and culture. Meet youe guide at Metro Universidad Católica to head together to the San Cristobal hill.  Along with your guide, you will hike at your pace to the top of the hill, stopping along the way to admire the views and catch your breath.  Your goal is to reach the lookout point at the top, where you will enjoy a refreshing “Mote con Huesillos”, which Chileans themselves can’t decide if it’s a drink or a dessert.

Spend some time around the lookout point, continuing a little further up to the statue of the Virgin Mary, visiting the artistic Stations of the Cross, or just exploring the shops on the hill.

If you still have some energy, you have the option of walking back down the hill.  Otherwise, you have the option of taking the centennial funicular, a National Monument, down to the Bellavista neighborhood.

Relax in a local restaurant and enjoy a typical Chilean lunch with an opportunity to try dishes such as ”Empanadas”, ”Pastel de Choclo” or ”Porotos Granados”, among others, along with a refreshing drink of your choice, such as Chile’s national cocktail, a ”Pisco Sour”.

After lunch, you have the opportunity to visit “La Chascona”, the quirky ex-home of one of Chile’s most famous poets, Pablo Neruda, and now a popular museum.  Take an audio tour as you meander through the maze of rooms and admire its eclectic decoration.

Explore the streets of Bellavista, taking in the historical buildings and the street art, browse the stores of Patio Bellavista, and enjoy Chilean’s favorite dessert, ice cream!
