Bellavista has been the den of nightlife, bars, discoteques and restaurants for some time, and as a neighborhood it has has some of the best options to sample Chilean craft beer, day or night. Here are three of the top recommendations for residents and visitors alike.
Kross Bar-One of the newest venues for beer lovers, and is the joint venture of Chile’s leading craft beer Kross, and restaurateur extraordinaire Jerome Reynes (a co-owner of Bocanariz wine bar, Chipelibre, among others).
Located in the heart of Bellavista, the draught options showcase Kross’ line of brew, a refreshing and well-rounded pilsner, golden ale, stout and a few others. Other options are available in bottle. The interior has an industrial feel to it and they have a number of different spaces to enjoy a cold schop. Kross has a German owner, so it also boasts the “best currywurst outside of Berlin”.

Loom- Cerveceria Loom deserves a special mention because it’s one of those projects that started from scratch. The place started with friends brewing their beer on the side of an industrial facility. Now it has grown into a purveyor of not just some great beer, but also taking a role in developing Santiago’s brew culture. A space dedicated to Chilean craft beer.
Although they do have plans to brew once again, they now sell other brews for the most part in their small but pleasant space on the edge of the Bellavista neighborhood. They also regularly have special events, seminars and are actively involved in local brew contests and other activities. Loom seems to favor the hoppy, IPA centric options which are all the rage in North America. Rather than the German style beers popular with many Chilean craft brewers. Do note, if you go there, the address is 0360 Bellavista, not 360, it makes a difference in Santiago’s numbering system.

Jardin Mallinkrodt – Opening just last year in an expansive site in Bellavista, Jardin Mallinkrodt is a trendy and chill beer garden. It has a revolving Chilean craft beer selection and food trucks. With both large communal tables, a lounge space and bar seating there is a bit for everyone. The setting, with exposed brick and soft lighting, is perfect for Santiago summer nights. They also have a focus on cocktails for those traveling with someone who prefers that over beer.
Interestingly, the food trucks rotate every month. There are four trucks, and the top seller stays, while the rest the change. Generally has a mix of sandwiches, burgers, empanadas or BBQ.
