Culinary Contrasts
Markets & Boho

Food tours in Santiago, are the perfect way to start your journey and get to know the city. First, we’ll pick you up at your hotel in a modern van with a professional driver and we head for the historical center of Santiago.

We start in the Plaza de Armas and walk our way north to the Market District, visiting La Vega Chica, La Vega Central, Tirso de Molina and Mercado Central. Experience first-hand Chile’s culinary traditions and market culture as we walk through the lively bustle of the real working market that supplies much of the city with its fresh goods. A blend of colors, smells, faces with a touch of chaos.

You’ll have the opportunity to try home-style dishes like Porotos (beans); enjoy a refreshing Mote con Huesillo, which Chileans themselves can’t decide if it’s a dessert or a drink; another typical Chilean drink with a history; and other typical Chilean treats.  We wrap up our time in the market with some seafood in Mercado Central paired with a crisp glass of Chilean white wine.

Back in the van, we’ll pass by Parque Forestal, through the bustling historical neighborhood of Lastarria, and Cerro Santa Lucia, the official founding point of Santiago.  Then we’ll head into the bohemian neighborhood of Barrio Italia, a barrio famous for its casual restaurants, bars and cafes, and hidden arcades full of boutique style stores.   Here, you’ll visit a gourmet chocolate shop for some delicious samples, have the chance to walk around, and visit an artisan ice cream shop for Chile’s favorite dessert.  Is not like any other food tours in Santiago, is a tour that lets you experience the contrasts that exist in this diverse city.
